Active Schools Virtual Awards: Young Ambassadors of the Year

Young Ambassador’s (YA’s), Amy and Maja of Gracemount HS have been a shining example of how to make the most of your role. Both have been influential in increasing Girl Participation at Gracemount. Amy has been delivering dance classes to the younger year groups while Maja has focused on basketball.

Both have also been part of the Young Ambassador Decision Group over the last two years and have been influential in creating the YA content, fundraising ideas and training needs for the citywide group. Both played a big part in the Young Ambassador residential helping plan activities and keeping spirits high. Never a quiet moment with Amy and Maja around!

Both have also conducted citywide research across High Schools on curricular/extra-curricular sport which was very valuable. This helped other Young Ambassador’s look at best practice for sport clubs at their schools.

Amy and Maja have also delivered workshops to all YA’s focusing on sport memberships in high schools. This looked at different membership approaches in High Schools and helped Young Ambassadors plan for their schools.

Both Amy and Maja have been an integral part of the Young Ambassador programme across the city over the last two years. They have developed relationships with others, helped support new Young Ambassadors and inspired all that they have worked with.
