Activity description

NB: The meeting point for the first session of this course is the Water of Leith Heritage Centre. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements but students should be able to walk at gentle pace for 2 hours. GENERAL AIM OF COURSE: To introduce students to the birds to be found in the various habitats in the city of Edinburgh. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: By the end of the course students will have: - been introduced to some of the common birds in various urban habitats; - acquired basic identification techniques; - developed their fieldcraft; - Increased their powers of observation - and their fitness. GENERAL APPROACH TO COURSE: An informal series of walks developing the students interests and skills. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: Students should wear sensible shoes and have a waterproof jacket. A notebook and pencil and binoculars would be useful but not essential. Students will meet at a different location each week and will be responsible for any travel costs they may incur.
