Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS: It is the responsibility of participants to ensure they have downloaded and checked they have access to the Microsoft Teams Application. This course is suitable for all experience levels.   OVERVIEW / INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE: Every week students will be sent a drawing project to complete at home. It will feature technical guidance, step by step image demonstrations and artworks for inspiration. There will be a variety of creative and technical projects  e.g how to draw portraits/drawing on recycled paper/how to represent shadows, and students will be given the option of working from life or photographs. During the online interactive session we will discuss the results, and provide each other with feedback and encouragement. There will be time to ask questions and receive individual advice from the tutor.  HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: The weekly projects will be sent out as a pdf document by email. Students will have one week between receiving the project and the following interactive session. They will be expected to email images of their work to the tutor in time for it to be shared on screen during this session. Everyone will have a chance to speak about their work before receiving individual feedback from the tutor and the other group members.   WHAT STUDENTS CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: Students will learn and practice a variety of drawing techniques, as well as being provided with a structure and community for motivation and encouragement. Alongside the tutor’s individual feedback, they will find inspiration in the work of others.  RESOURCES REQUIRED BY STUDENTS / ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students will require their own drawing materials – including minimum pencils, paper, eraser and some coloured materials. It would also be useful for students to have charcoal, black pen and/or ink, colour pencils/pastels and watercolour/acrylic paint.  Students will require the ability to photograph their work and send images via email.
