Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements. All levels welcome. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: This course offers an introduction to some of Scotland’s most intrepid explorers, travellers and missionaries, from the late 1500s through to the early 20th century. It will look at their adventures in Africa, Asia and North America, and examine the impact they had on Scotland, Britain and the wider world. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: The tutor will record a short video covering the lives of two or three “intrepid Scots” each week, to be viewed by students in their own time. An hour-long online chat will then follow between tutor and students about the week’s subjects. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Laptop, paper and pen if required.
