Activity description

Post Beginner: must have recently completed at least 1 year of Pilates at beginner level minimum. Students must be responsible for their own health and if there are any concerns, they must go to their own doctor for confirmation. NUMBER OF WEEKS/HOURS: 5 weeks x 1hr with films available from Wednesdays to review for one week week 1: from Wednesday 17th June week 2: from Wednesday 24th June week 3: from Wednesday 1st July week 4: from Wednesday 8th July week 5: from Wednesday 15th July PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE VIDEOS WILL BE SENT BY END OF BUSINESS ON WEDNESDAY AND THE INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH THE TUTOR IS THURSDAY - SEE BELOW. DAY AND TIME FOR THE INTERACTIVE CLASS DISCUSSION: Mondays at 3pm. (Monday 22nd/ 29th June & 6th/13th/20th July at 3pm). OVERVIEW INTRODUCTION TO COURSE: This course will focus on strengthening, mobilising and stretching the whole body, whilst developing self-awareness and connection to breath. HOW WILL THE COURSE BE TAUGHT? Each week, the 1 hour session will be split into 3 or 4 different videos of 15-20 mins each. Each video will focus on a specific body area. Each week will build on the previous sessions exercises – either layering and developing the exercises or swapping them out for slightly more challenging exercises. Plus an interactive discussion with the tutor on Mondays. WHAT CAN STUDENTS EXPECT TO LEARN? Students will learn new variations of Pilates exercises that they already know, how to combine exercises to create additional challenge and how to layer exercises. By developing self-awareness in a Pilates class students will be in a better position to manage their own body in relation to exercise and challenge. WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED TO PROVIDE (apart from their own laptop, computer of mobile phone to access YouTube) ? Students may like to use or purchase a yoga mat. However it is not essential – a towel or folded blanket (or anything similar) would also do just fine. ARE THERE ANY HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW? Ensure there’s enough space for the mat on floor and for you to move without knocking anything. WHAT COULD STUDENTS DO NEXT? Look out for the next set of Adult Education Programme Pilates online or classroom courses. Keep practising the moves learned.
