Activity description

This five-week course will develop your individual voice in poetry, whether you are interested in traditional verse forms, performance poetry, or anything in between. The tutor is a widely published and award-winning poet in both English and Scots. The course is open to both beginners and those with experience of creative writing. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Basic literacy, and an interest in writing creatively. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to: - gain confidence in using a variety of poetic forms and techniques; - use a range of imagery, and approach a variety of subject-matter; - constructively critique each other’s work; - develop an appreciation of poetic voice; - develop their individual poetic voice in English, Scots, and/or another dialect. GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE: Tutor-led, with discussions, practical activities, and group work. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Writing materials (pen and paper, or a laptop if preferred).
