Activity description

Hatha Yoga is the traditional name given to the yoga of physical effort and aims to awaken and balance the energies of the body. Yoga is beneficial to all regardless of age, sex, race or religion. Hatha Yoga is enjoyable and beneficial to health and well being. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements. This course is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience of Hatha Yoga looking for basic general practice. Students with chronic health problems, injuries, or who are pregnant should consult their GP before embarking on this course and should discuss any health issues with the tutor at the beginning of the course. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have some understanding of how to practise a range of basic physical postures, breathing techniques and meditations. Benefits should be experienced in terms of strength, flexibility and mental peace. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Tutor led course – group participation with individual assistance as required. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY THE STUDENTS: Loose, comfortable clothing should be worn. Students are required to purchase their own yoga mat and provide a blanket to cover themselves during relaxation. Other equipment such as belts, blocks and bricks may be required and information on these will be given by tutor at the class. Students should wait until the course commences to get information/advice from the tutor before purchasing costly materials and to confirm viability of the course.
