Activity description

Everyone loves their pet or has a favourite wild animal they'd love to re-create or have forever and this class will enable you to develop skills for drawing a lasting image or memory of your favourite four-legged, (or winged, scaly or with fins) animal! Using a tracer projector enlarger you will work alongside a professional artist to design and paint a painting you should be happy to hang at home or to give a perfect personalised present. The friendly tutor will help you think of different styles and designs to work with your preferred image. The tutor is a professional animal portraitist, with no leeway to get things wrong or make mistakes, so you can rest assured that any challenges you might feel you are facing doing a portrait, she will have a solution as she will have been there! Can you please bring the photo or image you would like to work from to the first class, as you will outline trace it, allowing the tutor to take the tracings away to prepare for the following week, when it will be enlarged. The photo will need to be clear, with sufficient detail to work with. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements. All levels welcome. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: Drawing and painting techniques to suit the style or design of the painting you have chosen to work on for the course. We will not be covering watercolour techniques in this class. GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE: The exercises developed for this course interact and overlap and are designed to build on each other. They are accessible to all levels and allow everyone to develop at their own pace. Students will be asked to work from their own photograph. Advice will be given on using different media and art techniques. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS; APPROXIMATE/ADDITIONAL COST: Basic materials will be provided but students are encouraged to buy their own so they can continue painting and drawing at home. The tutor can advise about best outlets and brands. PLEASE BRING YOUR PHOTOGRAPH OF YOUR CHOSEN ANIMAL TO WORK ON FOR THE ANIMAL PORTRAIT _ YOU WILL HAVE TO LEAVE WITH THE TUTOR
