Activity description

This course is based on observing every day life and learning to make quick sketches in your developing sketch book. The professional and friendly tutor will develop your creativity in a fun way, from looking at static buildings to trying to capture movement of individuals and crowds, in order to build up a set of urban sketches with pencils and pens The focus will be in trying to be outdoors in Leith area to observe and sketch and then to also have the added bonus of a dry and warm classroom to use in case of bad weather, or to return to after being out in order to develop a quick sketch into a fuller image. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Everyone is welcome WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: Topics include: Choosing your materials Building structure into your drawing Sketching architecture Capturing panoramic views of a city Drawing people in cafes Sketching movement Bringing it all together GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE: Tutor leading with student participation MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS; APPROXIMATE/ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students should come prepared with an A3 and A5 sketch pad, pens, pencils, a small easel that can easily be set up and a fold out seat, as well as a water container.
