Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Students should have a good knowledge of watercolour. This is an Intermediate course. GENERAL AIM OF THE COURSE: To further advance the skill levels of observation, colour theory, mixing and uses, and to boost confidence, allowing students to relax and produce pleasing beautiful work. LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the course students will have learned to enhance their watercolour techniques; worked from a variety of subject matter; learned about watercolour materials, gaining knowledge which will help produce a better standard of work; learned to develop new skills in observation and colour theory to achieve desired results; learned to develop a greater understanding of scale, proportion and depth of field in watercolours. GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE: The course will include individual and group tuition with group and individual demonstrations. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: A good basic materials list would be as follows: HB pencil and rubber; A3 sized pad rough watercolour paper. White plate for mixing, size 8 and size 2 round watercolour brushes. Paints as follows(tubes or pans) - a basic range: Cobalt Blue, Prussian Blue, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimsom, Cadmium Lemon, Viridian Green, Burnt Sienna, White Gouache. It’s also nice to have the following: Turquoise, mauve/purple, orange, rose, French Ultramarine. Please bring what you have on the first day, to assess exactly what new materials, if any, you might need to purchase.
