Activity description

NB: THIS COURSE WAS ADVERTISED IN THE PRINTED BROCHURE AS 1.00PM TO 3.00PM. THE TIME WILL BE 12.30PM TO 2.30PM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements. This course is designed for all levels but some experience of drawing and painting would be helpful. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to: - enjoy handling oil or acrylic paint and brushes with more confidence and freedom; - enhance their knowledge of tone, colour mixing and brushwork techniques; - improve their skills in drawing, planning composition, use of perspective and proportion; - develop their personal painting interests through discussion and with reference to the work of different artists. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Demonstrations will be given by tutor alongside individual support and guidance. Subjects will include landscape, portrait and studies from nature/still life, respecting the requirements and interests of each student. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT: APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Please bring: HB or B pencil, putty rubber, oil or acrylic sketchbook/canvas boards, basic set of oil paints or acrylics (at least 8 colours), pure turpentine or low odour Zest it for oils, selection of brushes suitable for oils or acrylics, palette or mixing tray/plate, rag, protective clothing. A materials list will be provided by the tutor once the course has started. Cost of materials should be £25 or more, depending on quality. Students may wish to wait until the course commences to purchase any further materials and also to confirm viability. Discount can be obtained from certain suppliers on production of course receipt.
