Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements. Beginners are welcome as well as those with previous experience. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will: - be aware of some of the many possibilities within the practice of drawing and painting; - have gained confidence in their own choices; - be able to confidently compose a picture; - have explored some of the many ways to apply paint using a variety of brushes and other tools; - understand the basics of perspective; and - be able to mix colours in order to obtain a desired shade. GENERAL APPROACH TO THE COURSE: Practical course with demonstration of techniques by tutor. Discussion and ideas encouraged. Individual tuition will also be provided. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT: Students should bring basic materials - a pencil, drawing paper and eraser to the first session. However, students are advised to wait until the course commences to get information/advice from tutor before purchasing costly materials and also to confirm viability of the course. A basic set of paints - under £10 approximately; Drawing pads - around £4.; Watercolour paper should be 140lb - heavy quality - cost £8 - £20 a block depending on size etc; heavy thick cartridge paper can be used for acrylics or quality acrylic pad.
