Activity description

Class will run from 9.30am until 4.00pm with a half hour lunch break. Students should bring a packed lunch and drink if required but we will cook noodles for lunch in the class. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements. All levels welcome. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to: - Gain knowledge on essential nature of Asian food, ingredients and traditional way of eating food. - Able to cook Asian food confidently to impress family and friends HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: 100 % hands on. Suitable for those who wish to learn new knowledge in blending techniques and what ingredients used in an Asian kitchen. No need to have any experience in cooking. It is the tutor’s job to make learners achieve success. You will learn the importance of each ingredient and its aroma, how to do preparation, the actual cooking and how to store and heat up the food to ensure the best result. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students are requested to: 1. wear flat shoes for comfort and safety; 2. bring their own apron; 3. bring their own wok and pots (sauce pan large enough to boil 1 cup of rice); 4. wooden spoon (not a spatula), 5. perforated metal spoon and can opener; 6. provide a peeler, and scissors, 7. provide 3 tea towels; 8. provide 8 containers in which to take their dishes home; 9. stone mortar (only if you have one); 11. A plate for your lunch and a cup; 12. provide a sharp chopping knife 6-10” long (not serrated and not a small knife please). 13. washing-up liquid and sponge. Clean up time is an intrinsic part of your course. A list of utensils and equipment will be supplied again to enrolled students prior to course, along with a comprehensive list of ingredients. The list is quite extensive but this is to ensure you benefit from the wide range of dishes that are covered.
