Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Preferably experience of playing to a minimum of Grade 2/3 level in a group setting, as this course is aimed to develop technical ability in an enjoyable group setting. LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to: - Play across the full range of the clarinet confidently and be playing fluently and musically in a variety of styles. - Be proficient at basic scales and technical exercises to improve technique to Grade 3 and above. - Enjoyment and confidence gained from playing the clarinet in a group setting in a variety of styles. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Group of between 10-14 adults with one teacher for 2 hour weekly session. Lesson starts with warm up exercises, technical exercises and scales, then pieces ranging from one line played together to trio arrangements of varying difficulty to consolidate and develop technique and for fun. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Need own clarinet, basic model any make (Buffet/Yamaha etc), size 2-3 Rico or Vandoren reeds recommended. Pullthrough cleaner and music stand and pencil suggested. Music supplied.
