Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements, All levels welcome WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to:- Choose the best garments to make according to skill level, Use a sewing machine safely & efficiently. Students who have never sewn before, will begin with a "driving test", and a basic sewing exercise. Students will choose a pattern and suitable fabric and be able to follow the diagrams & instructions. How to use basic cutting and sewing processes whilst constructing a garment. Complete a garment of their choice according to differing levels of experience and skill. Students with some experience will be shown how to be more adventurous, sewing more difficult Garments, one student eventually made her own wedding dress!- HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Individual and collective tuition. Beginners will start with a "Driving Test" to instruct them in the safe use Of the straight stitch sewing machine. At the first session of the course, time will be spent discussing choice of patterns, fabrics and other materials required by students. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students are expected to provide their own fabrics and other materials/equipment. (We would suggest that unless students already have equipment/ materials or work in progress, They wait until the first session for advice on what to buy) Please note: Students may have to share resources such as sewing machines and equipment.
