Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS- No formal requirements; This is a practical course particularly for beginners to woodwork. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO TO LEARN: Students will construct a wooden stool using soft wood. There will be an introduction to the basic skills and techniques of woodwork. Students will produce a wooden stool and have a basic knowledge of woodwork. Students will learn about measuring, marking out timber, cutting, sanding, joining, finishing. Students can take their wooden stool home. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: We will be mainly concentrating on hand tools, with use of some power tools, eg cordless drills and sanders. The course is project based and students will develop their skills with advice from the tutor. The tutor will always be available to advise and help. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: All materials and tools will be provided.
