Activity description

General aim of the course: This class offers a possibility to explore the Art of Calligraphy by using the Uncial Script which is an ancient Celtic Script and reasonably easy to master for beginners. What, if any, prior knowledge/ skills are required? Students are not required to have any knowledge though it would not be disadvantageous to have some basic understanding of lettering. It can also serve as a follow up class for those who have done calligraphy in the past but look for ways of refreshing their knowledge What will students have learned by the end of the course? To understand the basics of lettering by using pen or brush General approach to the course (e.g Individual tuition, use of visits, use of particular resources, methods in use in the course and other information which would be helpful to the student) Unfortunately, this class is a high resource class and plenty of different material will be needed. However, the tutor will ensure that most of the material will be available to buy from him. What materials should the student provide? New students are expected to bring along: An A 3 Layout Pad by Daler Rowney
calligraphy marker or fountain pen A pencil, rubber and ruler Drawing Paper flat brushes watercolour
