Activity description

Tutor’s Course Description: ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Some previous experience with glass may be an advantage but is not essential. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: Students will be introduced to the basics of traditional glass painting which can open up a whole new world of possibilities for glass art projects. By the end of the course students will have learned: - What traditional glass painting is and the ways it can be used - How to mix paint and apply in different ways to create an image or design - How to apply glass enamels and stains to give extra dimension and colour to their pieces. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Practical demonstrations and one-to-one tuition. Weeks 1 to 4 will focus solely on painted glass techniques. Week 5 will concentrate on adding finishing touches to work to make it ready for display. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: A fee of £15 per student will be charged which is payable on the first evening of class. This will cover materials required including clear glass, use of specialist glass paints and kiln firings. Any additional materials desired can be purchased from the tutor at extra cost. Tools including dust masks and paintbrushes will be provided. Students may wish to bring source images to work from or can choose from a selection provided. * Students should wear closed toe shoes for safety.
