Activity description

For good reason, pasta is one of the most popular foods in the world! It is tasty and incredibly easy to cook. It’s also extremely satisfying to make from scratch and can be made when there’s not much in the house. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: The workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced cooks wanting to learn more about fresh pasta cookery. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: You will learn all there is to know about pasta, and will create some of the most unusual and beautiful pasta types, traditional in Italy but virtually unknown in the UK. By the end of this course, students will have learned: - a brief introduction to the history of pasta; - how to mix different flours and other ingredients to obtain a smooth pasta dough; - how to handle, pull and fold the dough to obtain the pasta shapes - how to match pasta and sauce; and - the best cooking technique for the perfect pasta al dente. Best of all, at the end of the lesson you will get to enjoy the delicious fruits of your abour! HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: With a combination of hands-on cookery and educational demonstrations, the course will teach you about new pasta shapes, flours and flavours to explore, and leave you inspired to create your own delicious recipes at home. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: Students need to bring is a sense of fun and a healthy appetite. A list of recipes, ingredients and equipment required will be made available to enrolled students before the course start date. Please note that equipment such as ovens/microwaves may need to be shared, and that clean up time is an intrinsic part of your course.
