Activity description

This course offers a possibility to explore the Art of Calligraphy by using the Uncial Script which is an ancient Celtic Script and reasonably easy to master for beginners. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Students are not required to have any knowledge though it would not be disadvantageous to have some basic understanding of lettering. It can also serve as a follow up course for those who have done calligraphy in the past but look for ways of refreshing their knowledge. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course, students will understand the basics of lettering by using pen or brush. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Tutor led course with student participation. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT: New students are expected to bring along: An A3 Layout Pad by Daler Rowney; calligraphy marker or fountain pen; A pencil, rubber and ruler; Drawing Paper; flat brushes; and watercolour. Contact your tutor Martin Hensey on e mail listed below should you have any questions as regards materials required. Information about the tutor: Working as Designer, Illustrator, Fine artist and Calligrapher since 1989, extensive teaching activities both in Germany and Britain since 2006, founder of Red Balloon Studio in 2009.
