Activity description

Class will run from 9.30am until 4.00pm (on both days) with a half hour lunch break. Bring a packed lunch and drink if required. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This course is geared towards the needs of beginners, but those with experience will also be most welcome. The wider the range of artistic ability and experiences the better for class dynamics. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Students are encouraged to freely explore and develop their own painting abilities, themes and creativity in a friendly & supportive taught environment. The class structure and emphases is on personal creative development through self-learning, with one-to-one tutor support, and most importantly the enjoyment of painting. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course, students will have explored a range of materials and painting techniques; have gained a practical knowledge and experience of creating small-scale paintings from various subject-matter; deeper understanding of the creative process involved in painting; more confidence in the use of painting materials and methods; and self-development through the student’s own artistic abilities, personal visual language and creativity. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS/ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students will be required to provide their own materials. Ideally new students should bring with them their preferred art materials of choice (acrylics, watercolour or oils), paints and brushes, watercolour paper, canvas board or canvas. Returning students can bring any materials they wish. IF STUDENTS WISHING TO USE OIL PAINT THINNERS, they should only bring a non toxic alternative medium to turpentine eg citric based solvents or natural solvents. TURPENTINE MUST NOT BE USED.
