ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: For beginners and those looking to refresh their skills. The course is also suitable for post beginners. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have: - learned to work confidently with mark making, line and tone, textures and pattern; - knowledge of printmaking techniques of monoprint, linoprint, and blockprint which they can then do at home; and - made new friends and enjoyed learning a new skill in a relaxed and informal setting. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: In the first few weeks students will be introduced to mark making, texture and pattern, line and tone. Then they will gradually be introduced to new print techniques on a week-to-week basis. Once they have learned all the skills, they will be encouraged to research and work on their own printmaking project that they can then develop on paper. This will be taught using demonstrations, individual and group work. The group will then use the prints they have produced as covers to make their own simple books. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students will be asked to bring to the first class, paper and sketchbook. Rollers and ink will be available for the first session to students. Students are encouraged to wait until the first session to consult the tutor on the materials they will need for the course.
