Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This 5 week course is suitable for those who have attended a Beginner level course in the past. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course, students will: - have gained additional knowledge of mosaic making materials and techniques; - be able to safely use mosaic making tools and equipment; - be able to plan, design and create a personal 3-D mosaic project suitable for outdoors; and - develop confidence and experience of mosaic making to enable learners to work on projects at home. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Information sheet, example mosaic designs, demonstrations, individual consultations and guidance. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: APPROX/ADDITIONAL COSTS: Mosaic wheeled cutters will be available to use in the class. However, you may wish to purchase your own for use at home. All materials required - tesserae, glue, grout and large terracotta plant pot - for this course will be provided at a of cost £25. This should be paid to the tutor at the start of the course. Or, participants can provide all their own materials and substrate themselves. Additionally, students could bring in old crockery - flat and patterned, which is available from charity shops, or it could be crockery that has some personal meaning or memories, ie Granny's china etc.
