Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: NOT SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS. Students must be able to follow written instructions & calculate formulae. Only suitable for people who have completed at least 2 Beginners courses & have experience of Metric Pattern Cutting. You must have a competent knowledge of basic dressmaking. For Health & Safety reasons, it is important that you have good use of both hands, good vision and hearing to take part in this class. LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Develop further blocks relating to you specific projects/ideas. • Further development of pattern drafting techniques using blocks. • Exploring the manipulation of blocks to create various designs & making a mock up to check the fit. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Each student will be encouraged to work on their own designs & garment construction with guidance being given specific to their projects. Recommended reading is Winifred Aldrich 'Metric Pattern Cutting'. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENTS: 1 roll of basic lining wallpaper, pencils, ruler, rubber, calculator, measuring tape & paper scissors. Pattern drafting tools – French curve, Tailors L & set squares.
