Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No previous knowledge needed. The class is intended for beginners or intermediate students. This course offers an opportunity to explore a variety of printmaking techniques. The aim is to have fun and be creative within a supportive and friendly environment. A creative approach is encouraged. Bringing ideas and sketch books can be very helpful in developing print designs. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have learned: 1. Introduction to a variety of printmaking techniques. 2. Understanding the use of a range of media and tools how to handle them appropriately for a given technique. 3. Develop a confident approach to image making and gain a broader visual language in this discipline. Some of the exciting processes involved are Monotype, Collagraph, Drypoint, and lino. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: The tutor will give demonstrations and how to notes, together with supplier’s lists to guide you through the essentials of classic and contemporary techniques relating to making prints. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Some equipment will be provided, however specialist tools for lino cutting will need to be purchased, the tutor will give advice at the beginning of the course. A few consumables will be available to purchase at cost price in the class. A list of suppliers will also be given and the Tutor charges an extra £10 per term for the use of quality printing inks. Please bring along sketchpads, drawing materials, photos and creative ideas!
