Activity description

We will be using traditional subjects such as landscape, still life and portraits as the inspiration for this class. With regular demonstrations there will be a strong emphasis on drawing as a preparation for painting and we will work in a variety of media such as acrylic painting, watercolour, oil pastels and chalks. Students will need to supply their own materials but the tutor will announce each week what to bring. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: None. All Levels. LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to: - Use a range of materials with confidence - Improve drawing and painting skills. - Develop an understanding of line, tone, form and colour HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: We will look at the work and style of recognised artists as an inspiration and starting point. There will also be regular demonstrations by the tutor and supportive tuition and feedback. Students will be encouraged to develop their own style and to work at their own pace. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: A3 & 4 cartridge paper Sticks of Charcoal Pencils: 2B, 4B, 6B Watercolour and Acrylic Paints Brushes: small, medium and large wash brush Chalk and oil Pastels Fixative – hairspray can be used as cheap option
