Activity description

Information about the tutor: Working as Designer, Illustrator, Fine artist and Calligrapher since 1989, extensive teaching activities both in Germany and Britain since 2006, founder of Red Balloon Studio in 2009. Bachelor of Design (Graphic Design) and Master of Design (Illustration). Awarded on 2010 (Calligraphy) and 2011 (Calligraphy and Watercolour) For further information, please see www.redballoonstudio.co.uk This course offers a possibility to explore the Art of Calligraphy by using the Uncial Script which is an ancient Celtic Script and reasonably easy to master for beginners ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Students are not required to have any knowledge though it would not be disadvantageous to have some basic understanding of lettering. It can also serve as a follow up course for those who have done calligraphy in the past but look for ways of refreshing their knowledge. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course, students will understand the basics of lettering by using pen or brush. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Tutor led course with student participation. This is a high resource course as plenty of different material will be needed. However, the tutor will ensure that most of the material will be available to buy from him. What materials should the student provide? New students are expected to bring along: An A3 Layout Pad by Daler Rowney; calligraphy marker or fountain pen; A pencil, rubber and ruler; Drawing Paper; flat brushes; and watercolour.
