Activity description

NB: This course was advertised as a Beginner level in the printed brochure. It is now a Beginner 2 level. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This is a follow on from a beginner level course, so students should have completed a beginner course. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will be able to: - recognise and use basic Gaelic vocabulary; - use correct pronunciation; - conduct simple conversations in Gaelic using useful common phrases; and - read short simple texts. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: A series of structured lessons will be followed. These are backed up by video and Audio material. Key phrases and vocabulary are thoroughly drilled at each stage. Exercises at each stage see students working in pairs to maximise conversation opportunity. Games, a song or two, and a couple of poems are introduced as appropriate. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROX/ADDITIONAL COSTS: Handouts for each stage are issued free. A suitable text book and dictionary (which should not cost more than £12 second hand) will be discussed at the first session of the course.
