Activity description

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This Ashtanga Yoga coursre is an ideal progression after a beginner course, or generally for anyone who wishes to develop their practice or revisit fundamental principles. The course is fun, interactive and suitable for all levels, but ideally with some previous yoga experience. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to: - introduction to breathing techniques; - link breath with movement; - gain an understanding of the principle and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga; - postures will be introduced step by step with correct breathing techniques; - explored foundations of the sun salutations, standing and seated postures from the Primary series; and - take part in relaxation techniques and Meditation. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: Introduction to breathing techniques and review every class; demonstrate new postures; verbal instructions and pausing in between postures to give refined instructions; breaking down the postures and guiding the class step by step; inclusive approach offering alternative movements; further development to enhance their learning individually at home; and person centred approach adapting content and delivery according to the group and individual needs. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Students will need a Yoga Mat plus a Yoga Block. Students should come to the course wearing suitable clothing that is comfortable and allows you to move and stretch, eg leggings, tracksuit bottoms or shorts and a vest top or t-shirt and a warm jumper and socks for the cool down period.
