Activity description

NB: The meeting point for the first session of this course is South Bridge Resource Centre. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: No formal entry requirements. All levels welcome. LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to: - identify the different rocks of Edinburgh; - understanding of the story of how these rocks formed, by different processes; - appreciate how the variety of Edinburgh's rocks has resulted in a varied landscape; and - understand how the rocks of Edinburgh have influenced the development of the city. HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: This course will comprise 5 informal, short walks around different parts of the city where we will get a chance to see different rock types and landscapes and see how these have influenced people. Each walk will be at a slow pace, on good paths and pavements, and accessible by public transport. MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT; APPROXIMATE & ADDITIONAL COSTS: Good walking shoes and warm waterproof clothing.
