Adult Education Programme

YOUTUBE ONLINE COURSES TRIAL - updated 15th June 2020

The Adult Education Programme team is keen to trial some online adult learning courses. We are offering free enrolment to adult learners in exchange for weekly feedback evaluations to help us work out the best way to offer our courses until we can resume back in the classrooms.

Booking will be as normal, using the online www.joininedinburgh.org website for the limited places.

The weekly feedback will be done on SurveyMonkey links and student comments will be greatly appreciated, advising of the highlights and suggestions for improvements.

We will be using a private YouTube channel and once students have been accepted on the course, the password link will be shared. Once the course goes live, the password will enable access to the course, through YouTube.

The courses will be approximately one hour per week, possibly in segments that can be replayed within a one-week period. The material cannot be downloaded or recorded. The course may vary during the 5-week term in response to feedback from the tutor or students.

In addition, there will be a set time for an interactive online course discussion to chat with the tutor and raise issues. This will be live at a set time and if this is missed, it cannot be replayed. If students wish to participate in the interactive session, they must agree to sharing email details with the tutor.

Please read the course descriptions before booking, as the interactive course time will be indicated clearly and is not available at any other time. For the purposes of the trial Adult Education Programme YouTube courses, for any interactive element with tutors, it would be necessary for you to agree to share your email and/or phone number with the tutor to participate.

If you do not wish to share your information in order to participate in the interactive chat with the tutor, please opt out by emailing adult.education@ea.edin.sch.uk

Students must have access to Wi-Fi and YouTube on a computer, laptop or mobile phone in order to access the online learning.

The City of Edinburgh Council cannot be held responsible or liable for any harm or damage through participating in an online course. If you are undertaking the programme, please ensure you are in a safe, appropriate space and are healthy and capable of participating. Fitness courses: Participation is the sole responsibility and risk of the student as the City of Edinburgh Council assume no responsibility for injuries suffered whilst practising the exercises or taking part in the online courses. If you have any concerns or questions about your health, or any injury, you should seek advice prior to undertaking any activity. Do not start a fitness program if your doctor advises against it. If you experience faintness, dizziness, pain or discomfort, you must stop the exercises immediately. We do not recommend fitness exercises if you are pregnant, have an acute injury or are under 18 years of age.
